I should mention that I saw the first showing in NYC of STAR TREK on Thursday at the Lincoln AMC IMAX Theater.
It was fucking fantastic and I will see it many more times.
My girlfriend, Liesl, has never even seen Star Trek, and she loved it.
Go see it. It needs to make money so there can be more.

Someone tell me something, because apparently I don't get it.
Any of you conservative types out there, please. Why should gay marriage be illegal? Two men or women are in love and want to share their lives. Why is that so bad?
From what I gather, there are two arguments
1) Religion: It's a sin!
2) Tradition: Marriage has been between a man and a woman since the beginning of time!
Now, I want you to answer me without using religion or tradition as a reason.
1) Personal beliefs about a deity, and any rules that go with them, should not and do not have anything to do with it. Two men being married does not hurt anyone. Religion may consider it wrong, as wrong as killing, but killing actively hurts someone, while gay marriage does not. So, in your answer, I want to hear nothing about religion.
2) Tradition. Just because something has been a certain way throughout history doesn't make it right for the present. We ditched Polytheism at one point. We also invented cars and planes. Does that stuff being less traditional have anything to do with it? Tell me why it's wrong that has nothing to do with "it's always been this way".
I'm so sick of people squirming out of their bigotry using belief in a magic invisible man, or the argument that we shouldn't be changing things. What the fuck is so wrong with human beings having the right to love someone of the same gender? Seriously, what?
